If you’re looking for a quieter stay (there is no casino) that’s still within walking distance of the Las Vegas Strip, then the Desert Rose Resort may be the perfect option for you. It’s located two blocks away from the Strip, making it a great choice if you don’t have your car with you.
This 3-star resort features 278 one and two-bedroom suites.
Desert Resort Suite Features
This makes it ideal for longer-term stays because you’ll be able to spend more time in your suite without feeling like you’re staying in a bedroom all day. The amenities are pretty limited, however, compared to some of the other options on this list.
Desert Rose Resort Amenities
- A fitness center
- Complimentary breakfast
- A BBQ area
- Happy hour on select days
- An outdoor pool with hot tub
The dining options are also pretty limited at Desert Rose Resort. The only actual restaurant is Ellington’s Bar and Grill, but there’s also a convenience store where you can pick up snacks and a lobby bar if you’re wanting a drink.
Possibly the number one reason for choosing this Las Vegas hotel is because, unlike most resorts in Vegas, the Desert Rose doesn’t charge a daily resort fee, and parking is free.
Additional Desert Rose Information
- Address: 5051 Duke Ellington Way, Las Vegas (google maps)
- The resort is within easy walking distance to the MGM Grand, Tropicana, Luxor, Excalibur, and New York-New York.

2. Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa & Casino
If you’re traveling with kids, then you’re looking for something different than what a lot of the hotels on and off the Strip offer. While you may want to enjoy happy hour every night and spend your time fooling around in the casinos, kids can’t do that and are going to need alternative activities.
In that case, Green Valley Ranch Resort and Spa might be an excellent option for you.
Out of the options on this list, it is one of the farthest from the actual Strip. It is a 15 to 20-minute drive, so if you don’t have a car, this may not be your best choice.

The Green Valley Ranch Resort is home to an impressive list of amenities, including:
- A beautiful resort pool
- Several restaurants
- A fitness center
- Event spaces
To make the resort more family-friendly, they even have a special Cyber Quest arcade just for the kids. Then, while the kids are busy, you can spend more time at the bar or relaxing by the pool with your new friends.

Rock, the winner of Season 3, worked here for at least a year after he won. If that isn’t enough to make you want to visit, then I don’t know what else to tell you.
